Who does Side cater for?
Side is ideal for all types of visitors from singles to large families. There is something for all to do whilst holidaying in Side. It is an ideal location either if you want to relax and enjoy the sun and beaches of the Mediterranean coat or want something more active like golf or thrill seeking activities.
Side is a modern seaside resort with lots of bars, restaurants, discos, shops, markets with two sandy beaches either side of the harbour.
It is famous for its magnificent Roman ruins including the amphitheatre, which still holds concerts every year during the summer months. The old town of Side is amazing with it's ancient roman ruins mixed in between bars, restaurants and shops. Across the Side harbour is the famous Apollo temple, roumoured in local legend to be the place where Mark Anthony proposed to Cleopatra.
The main area of Side town with it's vibrant streets lead down to the sea. There are shops selling Turkish delight, designer goods (both fake and real but all at lower prices than at home), handcrafted embroidery, lace table cloths and napkins, rugs, leather goods and a wonderful selection of gold and silver jewellery.
There are plenty of places to go after sundown and many bars stay open until late. The atmosphere and good music of Stones Bar near the Temple of Apollo makes it popular with the British, while the Temple next door is frequented by Turkish and British alike. The resort's three nightclubs are The Apollo, The Lighthouse by the harbour, and Oxyd, with a large open air venue on the edge of town which features a laser show and swimming pool.
The year-round sunshine, brilliant night-life, top-class cuisine and activities to satisfy every taste, we think you will agree that Side has everything that makes for a great holiday.
